Highlights from the CPR Annual Meeting

By Alternatives Editorial Team May 1, 2011

The 2011 Annual CPR Meeting was held on Jan. 13-14 at the Barclay Intercontinental Hotel in New York. More than 200 attendees enjoyed two keynote addresses, briefings from CPR staff and board members, five panel discussions, and a full afternoon skills workshop that honed group negotiation skills.

Two points for those who missed the events: First, sessions from the meeting were posted last month at WestLegalEdcenter.com for continuing legal education credit in jurisdictions nationwide.

Second, save the date: The CPR Institute 2012 Annual Meeting is scheduled for next Jan. 26-27. Early registration discount rates will open in October or November. More details will be provided here and at the CPR website.

Last year, CPR provided live updates on the meeting on Twitter via the CPR International Dispute Negotiation podcast account, @IntlDispNegPod. The 2011 meeting was covered live at the CPR Institute’s new Twitter account, which can be followed @CPR_Institute.

An early session is highlighted below, and the rest will appear in a future Alternatives CPR News column.

The meeting kicked off on Jan. 13 with keynoter Rupert Bondy, group general counsel of BP p.l.c. For highlights of Bondy’s remarks, see last month’s CPR News, beginning at 29 Alternatives 82 (April 2011).

The first panel discussion at January’s CPR Annual Meeting, “General Counsel Roundtable: New Tools and Solutions,” consisted of top in-house attorneys who discuss running a corporate law department practice. They focused on effective resolution-oriented processes.
